Silk is a natural protein fibre obtained from cocoons made by the larvae of the mulberry silkworm. The fibre contains proteins like our skin, thus it feels smooth and soft.

It has a shimmering appearance due to the triangular prism-like structure of the fibre, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles. It is a light fibre but very resilient, absorbs moisture and is anti-allergenic.
